Holden Beach 11-20-08
We were greeted at the inlet this morning with 20 knt.winds and 4-5 ft. seas, about every 5 seconds, and a wet, but still decent ride to the knuckle buoy. We stopped about 3 miles short when we started marking nice pods of bait and jumping gannets out of the water. Put the 'hoo's in and worked the area hard for a couple of hours, but no love. Everything looked perfect. 59 degree water, tons of bait, tons of gannets, but no nibbles. After working the knuckle area, we decided since the seas where rather sporty, we would troll through the slough and work the fairway buoy. Once we got on the east side, all signs of life disappeared, but luckily the shoals broke up alot of the sea, so we decided to go ahead and run to the se to find warmer water and the kings. We picked at them a little bit all the way to the tower, as well as around the tower, but they never decided to throw down, so we headed toward the Houston wreck. Same situation. A very lite pick. Moved a few mile further offshore, same deal. I think we ended up with 15 or so kings, and 20 or so false albacore. Enough to pay for the fuel anyway. Well that's fishing. Next decent weather day, we'll be back at it. Looks like possibly Saturday. I've got a charter on Sunday, but maybe Monday or Tuesday. I'm hoping with all the signs of life we have down here, as well as the water cooling down real early this year, we may have a few tuna around. Only time will tell.

Lyndon,
This weather has been something else just about everywhere. I was coming back from the Florida keys Thursday and it had been blowing and coolish all week there too. With this cold weather I'm wondering if the BFT's will show up soon? Next Saturday maybe?
