I promise not to laugh or make fun of the pictures.(Can't guarantee about anyone else tho). You get xtra credits when you post pics.
Now that is how you put a Straight Jacket on those Mahi. The alltackle crew wasted not one drop of booze on that fish. BTW, there are also plenty of other things to hog tie on CR.
If you are into this method, make sure you keep the gaff in the fish during the tie up. Do not lie the fish on the deck but keep it suspended from the gaff. Insert the hook in the corner of the mouth, bend the body over, pull the line tight, wrap the tail up and watch it change colors. Clean.
By the way... hog-tying swordfish is a very effective way to control 'em. Bending the head back helps to cut the bloodflow to the brain, killing 'em faster. It also prevents damage to the boat and bodily injury from a thrashing bill. I've been doing this for about 3 years now, using a rod leash that's usually available. Slipper loop at the base of the tail, and a couple wraps around the bill is all it takes. Then I secure the tag end to a cleat to keep the fish from rolling around on deck. The fish is usually deceased in about 20 minutes, then can be untied and moved safely.
