    High Speed Lures

I troll and bottom fish about the same amount. I would like to pull a couple of high speed lures on the days we are bottom fishing when moving from spot to spot.

    What do you guys pull?

BB San Sal candy. No cigar weight needed and pulls good at 12 to 14 knots.

Ace Lures by Wahoo King. You can pull them fast.. I pull them at cruise which is only about 18 to 20 kts and they catch. Most effective lure I've used. He's on this site check it out.

Good question! How exactly do you pull those Ace lures at that speed?

Yes Sir... Go to Wahoo Kings Site and he tells you exactly how to do it... I'm sold... When going bottom fishing and when the water temp is right, I always pull them... Two off the flat ... way back on two 80 bent butts.

We do this all the time. Nice wahoo fishery here in NE Florida. Anthony at Wahoo King is a wealth of knowledge. I also use C & H Mr. Bigs and of course, Ilanders. Anthony has the easiest to understand and best diagram on his website to explain how to rig for high speed trolling. If you are uncomfortable in making the rigs yourself, you can buy everything from him.

My previous boat was 17.5 - 18 knot cruise and we always put out lines on the way out. Caught a 77.5 at 18 knots in an area I would never fish in doing this.

If you have specific questions, I would be happy to help where I can.

The next bite on a jig.
    Ponce,
Wahooking Lures are a great way to go!

On the last trip on the Grady before I sold it this fall, we busted the wahoo's doing exactly what you are talking about. I just threw out a lumo lure that I had laying around in front of a 64oz trolling weight. I have found they seen to almost work better up closer than too far back. I feel this is one case where WWB is not better.

High speed trolling is a great way to cover some ground or if your moving from spot to spot while Bottom fishing a way to put somwe extra meat in the boat. Wahoo King lures work as good as any. I have a bunch from Ballyhood Lures that I've been very pleased with. Remember try not to troll anymore than 3 lines running them at a 50' spacing, example 150', 200' and 250' behind the boat, this makes it easy to troll an S pattern and keep the lures working. Good Luck Ken
