High speed deep jigging for tuna
I have been lucky enough to see this in action this winter and it really works when the fish wont come into the spread. Wondering if anyone else has tried it? What tackle you use and rod/reel types? looking to buy 3 rigs to try it some this spring. I have seen the new saltiga multig colored braid it made it easy to get back down to the dept the fish were bitting at!

Hide- My Wifes Logged On
I've only done it a few times last year and we boated a few fish. I use a Tiagra 16 with 65lb power pro. The rod is custom calstar. Can't remeber the name of the baits. They are west coast iron and don't cost 50% of what the Shimano butterfly jigs cost. I think the jigs are Tady or salas.

the saltiga colored braid is the ticket.... if someone hooks a fish all you have to do is look at the which color he hooked up at and drop back to that dept. not sure how many colors they have but the ones I remember red, orange purple, blue, green. they are 10 meters apart.
cant tell the rest it is a company secret

Daiwa braid is the heat! It is all I use anymore for all of my braid. As far as rods and reels for high speed jigging I prefer the shorter japanese style rods (5'-5'6"). Their are lots of good brands on the market but I personally own a couple of Smiths and a tuna max which are both great. They are very light in weight and jigging with them is very easy. Spinning or conventional reels both work great but unless you want to drop the money on a stella or a saltiga I would go conventional. Anything else just is not going to hold up over time. For conventional reels I use a trinidad 40n and it is a beast of a reel. Daiwa saltigas are awesome as well. The accurate 870n or 665n are good choices also

I feel like I'm from another planet
Every time I tune in here I am reminded of how differently I fish and how little I know about how it is done in other parts of the country. What is high speed jigging for tuna? Is it done at a slow troll or with the engines off? Do you do it at night and what type of equipment do you use? We have yellowfin here and I might give it a try.

When you troll over that awesume mark for 30 min and the tunas wont act right you drop down the jigs and retrieve them very quickly and bam tuna on!

I was thinking about trying the torium by shimano just wondering if anyone else has tried it?

Sit down Shut up And fish
I just bought a Torium for jigging. I put it on a XH Trevela and loaded it with 50lb PP. I have already been told by several people that the Torium not good enough, bla bla bla.
The problem is, I am not going to spend several hundred dollars on a jigging reel when I have never done it and will probably only use it a few times a year. I am going to try the Torium as soon as the wind stops blowing and I will report. It may come back in pieces but we'll see?
