You have to respect a customer that sports tuna blood as war paint!
![]() ![]() ![]() With the wind and weather coming in I needed to Tuna Warrior Matt out to hang a bigger fish than his 80#er from last year. We headed out into the calm before the storm and where Ruge and I had found joy yesterday today was dead. The wind began to blow and the seas began to build. Good thing we were sporting the big Contender because it let us move around searching at speed even in the building seas. Our persistance paid off with the biggest surface feed we have seen this year! We rolled into a square mile of whales and tuna crushing huge masses of P-NUTS!!!! These fish were oblivious to us being in the middle of them. Ruge got some of the sickest HD video we have ever shot. We had a pile of tuna we were casting to crushing a big bait ball when a whale came up from nowhere and piled onto the ball like he was a big tuna himself. RUGE GOT THE SHOT!!!! Shaun "Steady" Ruge got the money shot center frame with Air Whale in its glory! With all the fish around "Tuna Warrior" Matt was able to seal the deal and button up a sweet 59" fish on peal rubba. After a tough fight in rough and building seas the fish made several tricky moves to get free, but Matt was able to avoid the hull and the motors as I made the big boat dance out of the way. When the fish came up to see what was pulling on him so hard, Ruge went Qeequag on him and delivered the dart on the money! ![]() "Tuna Warrior" Matt not to be outdone by Qeequag doned his tribal tuna face that earned him his nickname! By this time the wind was screaming and it was time for us to scream back home before the seas got too grumpy. Final tally 1 for 1. A short day with a solid outcome and some more video you have to see to believe. Overall a great two days OTW. The tuna are THICK right now. We have seen more tuna around inthe last two days than in the month prior. It's on and these fish are all running right around 60". We did see some larger stuff, but almost nother smaller than high 50" range. Its a great time to be a tuna fisherman, not such a good time to be bait! __________________ |
