I was driving through Kona one day last week when I spotted this.
Could it be? Could the famous Rio of WAHOONBOX’s SFC WORLD have moved to Kona? Did I dare enter therein to try to find her? What would the wife, seated next to me, say if I suddenly stomped on the brakes, pulled over, and started stammering about wanting steak or seafood right after just having lunch? Worse…spirits…how could I explain needing a drink when I was already drooling? Just as the decisive moment approached, the wife says to me…
"Did you hear what they just said on the radio?" Huh? They said something about a long-legged busty Brazilian babe? “They said the largest marlin of the year was landed today. Want to go take a look at it?” Uhh…ahh…OK…and off we went to Honokohau Harbor. I figured I might get a photo of that 1251# marlin for the SFC gang as small consolation for not getting one of Rio. But, the crew that operates that overhead railway system at Honokohau is very efficient and the big marlin had already been stowed away in the reefer by the time we got there.
We were leaving Kona the next morning so I was moping about the hotel room - no Rio photo, no marlin photo – when I looked out at the pool. Could it be? Nah, but at least it was a little consolation.
Thanks to Tim from the Kona Melton's for posting pictures of that 1251# marlin. Here’s hoping the big tuna come to play soon. Tight lines all.
