Don't be fooled folks Rick loves them spreader bars. I think he was actually upset that I didn't bring a green machine to pull behind it.

The ONLY problem with that pic is that there isnt three more spreader bars draggin behind that boat .. glad the tourney went off and a good time and good fishing were had by the crews ...

I gotta sick up for my buddy Rick a minute---- study the photo very, very carefully. The spreader Bar has just been deployed ( less than 2 minutes). Now Rick is a professional so he is always prepared for the unexpected. Rick is staring due WNW (towards home)--- deep in thought as to what his game plan will be now with this unexpected alteration to his spread------- The thought was------
Can I just jump over board now and swim 40 miles back to the beach???---

2 minutes after that- whamm wahoo on. 3 minutes after bite 1 wham, wahoo #2, 4 more minutes, bango, Wahoo #3.

You must be a mind reader Glenn. Got a feeling I am going to catching a little flack for this one, john had already started. We caught fish though and thats the name of the game. Hey Bill you forgot your bars on the boat. Thats ok I will take care of them!

All I can say is that Rick & Shane are the poster children for "the customer is always right". A lesser Capt/Mate would have thrown the man overboard, but Rick was confident that his primo spread would catch fish regardless of the bar. (although I agree he did have a back-up plan to swim the 40 miles back to the beach if things went bad)

It is true that the fish started biting soon after the bar went into the short flat position........but is it a coincidence that all the quality bites came on the WWB and LOOOOONG riggers? Is it a coincidence that the blue marlin bite turned on nearly the minute we pulled in the bar? I don't know, I'll let you guys duke that one out. Plenty of material for both sides.

Well - Rick - I think I am going to be the bigger Man (watch it buster) and take the high road here so this doesn't get ugly.


Rick is a phenominal mate. I had a great time with him and Shane on Sunday. They are a professional fun crew. I always try to learn something from every mate when I fish with them.

With Rick - Well buddy. You need to teach me this gaffing technique.



Are trying to gaff it or knit him a wire sweater.







BTW - Rick - You think that other Wahoo has slowed down yet?
