    help me with sails

Headed to Marathon at the end of January. This will be my first time offshore fishing with me being in charge of the boat. I have a pretty good grasp about how to go about it catching sails, but have a couple questions. I have heard a million ideas, tips, ways for rigging dead ballyhoo, but was wondering about a preferred method of rigging one live on a circle hook for slow trolling. Also, an idea of what size circles, I was thinking 5/0 to 8/0, but not sure ....and one more, how long of a leader and what # wire to use for a down rod for kings. Any info would be appreciated.

Deep C has a great post in one of these forums...Big Game forum i think ....It's called Ballyhoo 101 and then there's a ballyhoo 102 I think...both priceless reads.
Leaders...12-16' ...30# to 60#....no 80 unless there are yellowfoots about.

Down lines...#4 or #5 or #6 (Malins stainless) depending on the pound test u have on the down line itself....12-15#...#4
    15-20#....#5
20-30#...#6...just a rough framework to work from.
Catching bait is almost tougher some days than catching sails.
Ask this question around some of the charter guys...."Heard of any showers?"
This can be one of the most fun things u can do standing up....see what they say.
Have a great time...it should be going off as long as the wx cooperates some.
