Help with Alligator river
My buddy is doing a little fishing tournament from his cabin on the Alligator river this weekend and I'm towing my 16' boat there for some fishing. Was wondering if somebody could help me strategize for this thing.
I've never fished anywhere close to this area before so what should/can I target? What tackle should I put together? Any special areas around that people don't mind sharing would be a bonus
I have a hunch that Gottafly Lee has fished here before so maybe you could help an sfcer win this thing! I promise I'll post a report in your new forum

you may want to say which part of the river. its a pretty vast place. i have never fished there, but the 64 bridge looks like something that a striped bass would like to hang around.

That's what I'm thinking but not sure. His cabin is right near the 64 bridge. I don't know if I should stick in open water or slide into a creek or something.

TunaTeaser1, look to the creek mouths, small coves and points, I think that Red Drum and Speckle Trout would be your targets even though it is warming up. Look for school Mullet as the Drum and Trout will hang with them. I would fish Top water plugs, grubs and grubs on weighed worm hooks, (colors, pearl, root-beer with chartreuse tail, purple with chartreuse tail is great for Flounder) If water is mudded up, try Johnson gold spoon, that will cover a lot of water. Call me for more info if you like...
