Heading out of Georgetown 4:30 am
Leaving the Boat Shed Marina in Gtown at 4:30. Heading to the hole or the scarp depending on the satellite images later tonite. Monitoring 16 and 69. Any of you forum folks out there tomorrow give the Daytripper a holler. BOX, thanks for the witches. Gonna feed em to some of these south of the border fish. Now if you'd just hurry up with that planer rod.......
If the attempt is noteworthy y'all will be hearing about it |

Make sure you put up a report, no matter what, good day or bad. I think its just as important to see the bad ones with the good ones. No one here will think less of you either, weve all had are skunkings! ![]() |

First wahoo aboard the daytripper!
My buddy Eddie, my cousin Alex(RisingTideStudios) left the hill at 4:45. That’s 15 minutes late, had to make up for it in gasoline. Thank God for calm seas. Man, it was beautiful 30 miles offshore at sunrise, was fishin by 7:45. No real hard break close to the hole, but trolled around anyway. At 9:00 the WTFB went to squallin- hard, heavy run, chaos aboard. Got the other 6 lines cleared and worked the fish like we knew what we were doing. Gaffed a 50 lber and RTS got some real good pictures of the first wahoo for the Daytripper. We thought we were hot shit at that point but things got real quiet for a while. Not much radio traffic other than folks lookin for better water. Headed south over deep water till it progressively warmed up to 74.4, scattered weeds, big fat flying fish, lookin better. Still slow so I climbed up on the hardtop to look at the spread and as we were clearing grass and changing baits I see silver everywhere as tuna smashed the spread. Two or more of them ate the same outrigger bait, a 7 inch rasta squid chain with a short- trailing, witched ballyhoo. I don’t know which one won that fight, I just know I need some more of those squid chains. They may still be fightin over it for all I know. The one that stayed hooked on the flatine Eddie fought like a champ and brought along boatside for me to blow it on the gaffshot. Damn bullshit steel spring gaffpoint protector gets the leader tangled up on my missed attempt and a 40 lb yellowfin is lost to a broken leader. Oh well, we’ll get some more, NOPE. Fished hard with perfect baits till 5:30 then packed up and headed for the hill. South winds gave a little push on the way in. That’s what happened. A good time was had by all and alex got some great photos, maybe he will post em.
