Headin to the swansboro hole sat 31st

Leaving out of Wrightsville headin to the swansboro hole plug fishing north then going into MHC yacht basin to stay for Big Rock. Scanning the usual MHC channels tom.

Have a good trip up, stop by and say hello when you get there Sat evening. I am running my boat back up to Virginia Beach Sunday morning, so we'll have a quick chance to drink a beer and tell a few lies.

Left late plugged our way thru the fog this a.m. set in on the 375 line 40 fathoms. Wasn't to long before we caught our first gaffer plenty of weeds lined up on wind rips and lots of flyers. Made our way up the line and out to 50 then 70 fathoms at 8.5 kts dragging our blue marlin plugs. After a little bit longer get another gaffer then hear Derek and Matt say they saw something then from behind the left flat a blue marlin appears follows the plug for a few seconds then fades back then comes up again this time lit up takes a swipe but no connection Derek took a couple of cranks but she was gone oh well better to see one than not at all especially 30 ft off the transom. Once the excitment wore off we caught another nice gaffer then picked up to head in since we had a ride coming to pick us up at 4. Not to bad for a day pluggin for 3 hrs. Nice to see Glenn W and Bill (Tuna Taxi) when we got in enjoyed talking with you guys again. Sounded like the mahis bit good again up in 18-20 fathoms and a few billfish were seen and caught up the road 100-200 numbers from us.

rather sloppy out in the deep yesterday but the old girl handled it well. seeing one close like that gives me confidence that everything looked and sounded just right. maybe we will see that fish again next week, hopefully with its momma in tow.
