Here's how I ended up with these things....My brother-in-law from saipan came up from South Carolina...now he likes Bonita and Bluefish so we went to the Cigar and went fishing for Bonita and Bluefish and were cathing a right many of them...well a stray BFT decides to pay a visit and straightened a snap swivel on the line. My brother-in-law looks at me and says...I'm gonna get you something so that won't happen again.....Ray used to Commercial Tuna fish in Saipan and he called his brother who still lives there and had them send a couple of boxes over.....I think they're pretty cool and are sturdy as hell.....definately not quicker but definately stronger and I like the idea of the curly-q connection on the end of what amounts to basically a SPRO swivel on steroids....

apparently the japanese use these bad boy while commercial fishing for BFT. definately leaves no room for mistakes like not snapping the swivel all the way.....but I'm gonna give them a shot this early season and see how I like them.....Bob

They've been in the Melton's catalog for YEARS.

EDIT: I "think" it's Melton's. Could be one of the other catalogs.

2nd EDIT: I found them on the Finest Kind web site...that must have been where I've seen them. The ones they have are AFTCO...called "buck swivels".

Think a few of the Aussie guys may use them usually very heavy tackle oriented. Bet they'll catch the hell outta grass.

First came across them in Australia. Excellent, especially when using wire leader. Would prefer these over snap swivels on heavy tackle for big fish.
