Hatteras Bound

Well it is that time of year again. Nine of my best fishing buddies in the world and myself are bound for Buxton this Friday for 5 days of surf fishing. Watch out big ole' drums. As I am sitting here in the office the days will tick off very slowly. I feel like Ted Ferguson from the old Bud Light commercials staying at work for 5 minutes after 5:00 pm on a Friday. I hope we don't get a speeding ticket on the way down. I look forward to this trip all year long and it is my favorite trip of the year.

Hatteras is like a dream come true... waking up, fishing the sunrise bite down on the point, the wind in your face and the reds on your bait... the occasional nap in the sun, time with your buddies, dinner at Pop's, night fishing off the piers, apple uglies with your coffee... like happiness in a can. My brothers and I always camp right down the street from the ice cream parlor, 5 of us crammed in a little tent, arguing over who's up first or closest to the door to go build the fire in the morning to get the coffee rolling. We go mostly in the fall and early winter, occassionally we get a little house if it's too late in the year, but YOU JUST CAN'T BEAT HATTERAS.

SeaFrog, definitely post your catches and reports, we're planning a trip down there soon and would love to hear how you make out!!

I will post a report with pictures. I too am a lover of Pops. We always stay at the OuterBanks Motel as it is clean and cheap. There will be lots of mid day naps and hijinx. Two years ago while one of our buddies was sleeping we tied his boots together. I then ran down and pulled some line so his clicker would go off. He ate sand.
