    Harness/Belt

The wifey asked me what I wanted for Christmas, since the guys I fish with are a little bigger around(no offense Mike, Mark ha) and I don't want to mess with adjusting the thing when hooked up I told her a fighting belt/harness. Searched around and found one I liked. I plan on using it for Marlin and Bluefin Tuna. Any insight on what I should be looking for in a belt/harness. Thanks

The two I liked the most are the Black Magic Equalizer and Smitty's Spyder harness. Both are similar in style. I don't like the bulky harnesses, so if that is what you are after then my suggestions may not have much weight.

Good choice on getting your own. Its a personal thing and I dont let anyone readjust my harness. Once you get it right a harness is a great thing on a big fish.I sort of did a highbred harness the braid plate I had seemed a bit small and tended to buckle with a big fish so... I kept the harness part which I really like but switched to a aluminum Alutecnos plate with a swiveling gimble and a nice backing pad. Make sure you get a harness that is a bucket type that goes partially under your butt. With a bigger fish it is really necessary and will make fighting a big fish way more comfortable. The back brace only type harnesses will kill you.

Call Braid and usually Dennis Braid will pick up tell him what you are looking for and he will give you exactly what you need. That is what I did and have been very happy. I do not think anyone have more experience in fighting big game on stand up than Dennis Braid but I am sure there will be others that disagree because there are a lot out there that have lot of experience. This is just my suggestion Good luck to you.

After having 2 herniated disc, I opted for the the bucket type. All you have to do is try one on with rod and apply pressure, amazing difference.
