I think it best to do the overnighter, if possible. Hard thing to judge is wx. Look for a bermuda high so you don't have to worry about thunderstorms while out there.

OK, I need to ask. What is a Bermuda High? I'm no weather man put I assume this is some type of front. Does it bring good conditions? Low wind and such???

in the summer high pressure centers off Bermuda for days, bringing fair weather from the clockwise flow SW winds day after day. With no cold fronts coming through the only storms that appear are pop up late afternoon storms just off the beach in the seabreeze, these won't travel very far and usually overnight in the canyon there is nothing to worry about except ships.....
ok, this is news to me. . . how can i recognize one?
in the summer when u see SW 10-15 on the forecast for days on end - that's the deal. on the weather charts a big ole H will be centered off Bermuda and not moveOriginally Posted by SharkJP

Thanks Tommy, that's some great information.

I've talked my fishing buddies into planning an overnighter. I think it would be fun and safer to have another boat or two. If anyone else might like to go out as well b-mail me. Looking at sometime in May (weekend of course) and weather dependent. Will be headed out of Morehead City. (Beaufort Inlet)
