rigged up 2 hand line planers last night. i hadn't really messed with the planers since i bought em a while back and i was all nervous b/c i thought they were sea strikers but when i went to clip em to the line i saw the OLD SALTY PLANER 32 stamp. whew, now i feel better b/c BOX said that was the only way to go. can't wait to try em out soon.

I think Admin is going to let me have this space
I know Capt. Joe Told You But,
make sure when you "set" that #32 planner that your finger's are clear of the braid. Don't take any wrap's on your hand's. When that planer set's, it's gonna dig like right know. Be careful, that braid will cut the fool out of you. You got the right stuff, the braid work's great on the planer set up. Frank

thanks for the tip seapower!!! yeah i can imagine how that thing would dive down with some serious authority. i made the mistake of hand wrapping braid early on in my life and luckily it was with a small sailfish but when it made a run for it before i was about to unhook it i was in a world of hurt. thats one thing i won't ever mess up again b/c it sliced the shit out of my hands. i was about 15 when that happened and it was one of those life changing lessons. now it is gloves and halfwraps so i can get free if i need to. thanks again though.

Sit down Shut up And fish
sf_surfer, when you go to set the planers off the cuban reel that I sent you, just snap the planer on the snap swivel drop the planer over while you are going ahead and use the reel to let the planer line out. It helps if you are wearing gloves so you can slow the cuban reel down as needed. When you come to the end, the rope is wrapped is such a way that it will not come off the cuban reel. You will see it when the braid comes off. Then take the rope off the cuban reel and attach it to the cleat.
