    H&L 10, Spearguns 5

Caught a break in the WX and loaded up the boat with Worknot, my brother Scot and henry. Ran started the day inshore looking for some Gags. Worknot and Henry were first in the water and while they did a drift dive Scott and I managed to lose one nice Gag when his line got fumbled with the drift dive bouy that Worknot and Henry would using to mark thier location and I mangaed to put a nice keeper in the cooler. When Worknot surfaced he had a nice smile on his face with this. Joe.JPG (138.0 KB)

With Henry and Joe reporting poor underwater visibilty of around 5 ft, we decided to move offshore. When worked our way offshore stopping and dropping bait here and there ,just picking up small fish and some sharks until we were about 35 miles offshore in 115 ft off water. Marking a nice piece of bottom with a small sloping depression with 4'-6' of relief we decided to dive this spot. Next up in the water was henry and myself. I was hoping for some nice sized Reds, maybe a Scamp or two and if we were lucky a Gag. I knew a lobater would be down there lurking around and henry had his lobster bag ready. We'll I was a little surprised at what we ended up with.

A pair of nice sized Hogfish came our way and Henry manged to one hand wrestle and nice sized lobster.

After our dive the speargun count was 4 Hogs and 1 Gag to one Gag caught on H&L. Worknot manuvered the boat into position and we dropped the hook and dropped some bait down where we spent the next hour letting the Hook-and-Lines out do the spearguns taking some nice sized reds. At the end of the day the cooler and dock shot looked like this.

So the H&L's out performed the spearguns today. But exploring the beautiful Atlantic 115' below the surface and hunting down some Hogs is priceless!

Incredible sticking and hooking Keith and crew! Either part of your trip would be a once in a life time catch for many crews!
Excellent pictures too, thanks for sharing.

Sorry for the multiple spelling errors on my post. I guess I was a little groggy this morning after a long day on the water.
