This is a circle hook rig. Since we will be going to circle hooks next year it would be a good idea to start practicing it now.

    Great Vid..

    Quick question?

Are you snelling your circle hook or crimping it to your leader.

Whats the best way to make the connection with stealth in mind..

    Thanks

80 lb test-100 lb test on this rig (I use 60 lb on all my nakeds) you can crimp. I would suggest not going over 80. This a naked rig and needs to be stealthy and natural looking. You can use a J hook on this too. Just takes some time to find one that works. I would crimp the J hook no matter what lb test.

If you use 60 lb or 80 you can snell the hook. A circle works better when snelled as it keeps it stiff to the line and allows it to roll in place. The smaller diameter/snell combo keeps it stiff but allows it to not fight the line and swim properly.

Jimmy K posted a vid last year of a variation without a swivel. Simply make a haywire twist loop in the monel that sticks out in the same place as the swivel. Then you can just twist any hook (6/0 gorilla) you want on it.
