    Grander caught off oahu

A 1,245lb Pacific Blue Marlin was caught yesterday off the Maggie Joe located in Kewalo Basin oahu. The fish was caught by Capt. Mike Hennessey and the deckhand was Nate Varnadoe (sorry i murdered the last name). The fish was caught on a 14' Marlin Magic lure running on the short corner. It only took 45minutes to bring to lure on 130 class gear. But took an additional 2 hours to boat the beast. This is the second marlin over 1200 pounds caught on this boat.

    Quite a beast!

I have heard you almost always get at least one shot within the first hour on big fish like that. Most probably don't take it for fear of losing it, injury, or even risk of serious damage to the boat (I don't think we'd stick as many if they knew what damage they could do coming to the transom hot). I believe it takes a very well prepared, very experienced Captain and Crew to capitalize on such a chance. I commend you on your catch! 45 minutes to the steel speaks highly of the stick and wireman both...not to mention the big ***** hanging by the tail. Thanks for posting the pics.
