Toona, we fish areas at and around Cape Lookout, NC.....to include vast areas north of the cape along Core Banks and westard of the cape along the Shackleford Banks, Beaufort Inlet and Bogue Banks (Atlantic Beach and Emerald Isle shores).

Although false albacore can be picked up just about any time of year, mid-October through mid-December is considered prime time to locate marauding schools descending on accumulations of various baitfish at that time. Additionally, these feisty false albacore ("albies","cores",Fat Alberts", etc) are found near shore (usually), and allow even small boat fishermen access to these speedy predators on relatively light tackle, though I prefer a 10wt flyrod with intermediate line. Ya'll come on down, now, heah!!
