GOING DOWN? NOT WITH THIS GANG! VIDEO

I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH YOU GUYS A RATHER "INTENSE" MOMENT I SHARED WITH FELLOW SPORTFISHEMEN DOT COM MEMBERS LAST FRIDAY.....OFFSHORE 52 MILES FROM THE HILL.....@ 44 FATHOMS.....

WATER HEAT WAS ABOUT 75 GIVE OR TAKE......

THE FLICK IS ALMOST 10 MINUTES LONG

WE HAD BEEN PARLELLING THE "FISHIN-DAYS" (BAYWOLF-YACHTSNC) FOR A COUPLE HOURS HOPING TO STEAL A WAHOO FROM RICK BEFORE HE KILLED THEM ALL...........I KNEW HE HAD A FEW PIGS ALREADY IN HIS KILLBOX AND LITERALLY HAD CLEANED MY CLOCK IN DOING SO .....

WE STILL HAD LINES OUT AND I HAD NOTICED THE FISHIN-DAYS HAD JUST GONE RIGGERS-UP.........

YEP.....SLOW DAY FOR US SO WE MAY AS WELL FOLLOW SUIT AND PACK IT IN....

"I REALLY ENJOYED FISHING WITH YOU GUYS....LET'S GET EM UP GUYS...IT'S 2 HR RIDE HOME......" I replied.

THE 100% SFC CREW QUICKLY RETRIEVED ALL WEAPONRY ...CAPT MIKE LOCKED IN ON "HOME" AND THROTTLED UP

    O SHIT.

O SHIT TWICE I THOUGHT !!!.........THIS AIN'T GOOD ........THE VIBRATION ON THE STARBOARD RIGHT STERN CORNER JUST SHOOK THE RUBBER OFF MY SPERRYS!.......AND JUST AS I FELT IT....MIKE THROTTLED BACK QUICKLY WITH A "O SHIT" LOOK HIMSELF.............SEEMS THE STARBOARD ENGINE WOULD NOT POWER UP VERY WELL

WE QUICKLY LIFTED UP THE STERN LIVE WELL AND THEN REALIZED WE HAD OURSELVES A HULL FULL OF GULFSTREAM..............

NOW I DON'T MEAN 50 GALLONS HERE.......I MEAN WE WERE FULLY LOADED WITH THE HOT BRINE!

MIKE OPENED THE ENGINE ROOM DOOR AND SOFTLY WADED IN KNEE DEEP...........WITHOUT SAYING A WORD HE SHUTDOWN THE RAW WATER INTAKE VALVE TO THE STARBOARD ENGINE SO THAT IT WOULD NOW ACT AS A DISHARGE BILGE PUMP......WE NOW MUST ALSO KEEP AN EYE OUT ON THE ENGINE TEMP....FINRAZOR RODS WAS NOW ON HELM WHILE MIKE WAS SWIMMING AROUND IN THE ENGINE ROOM.........

I WILL LET THE VIDEO CLIP TELL THE REST OF THE STORY AND HOPE THAT IF YOU DO GET IN THE SAME FIX THAT WE DID....THIS CLIP MAY HELP YOU FROM GOING DOWN AS WELL

MY RIGGERS ARE AT FULL TIP TO THE ENTIRE CREW FOR PROFESSIONAL TEAMWORK.............NOT ONE MAN BACKED OFF FROM LENDING A HAND AS YOU WILL SEE....

    4116

AS YOU WILL SEE.....THE BILGE FLOAT IS UP.....AND HUNT4 FISH PLACED HIS HAND ON THE AFT PUMP AND COULD FEEL IT WORKING ....I CHECKED THE FORWARD PUMPS AND THEY TOO WERE PUMPING....BUT COULDN'T KEEP UP WITH WHAT WAS COMING IN........

This is gonna sound bad but that was awesome! To capture a real potential disaster that any blue water fisherman could face and show calm and cool remidy the situation .A explanation on how the shutting off the raw water intakes work as bilge pumps may help some one day.

Matey, Dad relayed the story to Marty last summer as Marty stopped by our place that night...

Pretty scary moment as well as a helpless feeling for me since I was miles away and listening on the VHF...

BTW, Marty, not a great situation there but is great that you caught all the cool heads prevailing on video...

been there before! Not a good feeling when you open the hatch and the bilge is dancing like that. I bet that puckered you all up the whole ride home!

ONE THING I AM JUST AS GUILTY OF FOR NOT DOING.....IS PERIODICALLY LOOKING INTO THE BILGE ....

NOW I DO HAVE A LOOK SEE FROM TIME TO TIME THROUGHOUT THE DAY....BUT NOT ENOUGH TIMES.......

WELL ..........LESSON LEARNED ON MY END....NOT ONLY EYES ON THE BAITS BUT EYES DOWN BELOW ..........SWIMMING ON A PAIR OF SCREWS AIN'T FOR ME

    Whatever swims !!!!
You know you got problems when you look in the engine room and see a 5gal. bucket of Rotella floating around.. That is a trip I will never forget and proud to be part of that crew that stayed cool under fire and got the job done.
