As some of you may know, I have been a competitive Mixed Martial Artist for years now and it has taken its toll on my body.
As a result of countless nose breaks, I will be going in for surgery this Tuesday to repair a seriously jacked up nose, cheek bone, and septum so I can breathe once again.
I am not a huge fan of surgery and with a wife and three little guys at home the idea of anesthesia just plain bothers me. So .... if any of you are praying men or women ... please shoot up a quick one for me so I can return home to my smilin family quickly and uneventfully.
Good luck man. I have been under over 20 times in my life with more to come. You will be fine and back fishing in no time. Just get better so you can come fish the Got em on Tourney in CB in July with me. I could use the help. Best wishes and you will be in my thoughts.
I went through 8 surgery's in one year. Being knocked out is a little scary (you think about all the bad things that can happen) but it's really no big deal. The worst part is the IV, after that it's all up hill. I also had nasal surgery years ago and it was the best thing I ever did. I could breath like a new born baby. It may take you a little while but you are doing the right thing.
Nauti Narured,
Rarhomes is right about the IV being the worst part of anesthesia, but even that is not bad! I am an anesthesiologist at UNC. After you get the IV we give some medication that equals several mixed drinks. If you are an active person in martial arts, you should have no problems. I will keep you in my prayers. If your surgery is at UNC, let me know.
ffoley ... LOL ... if you saw this thing you would realize why its so hard to keep it from getting hit
I am officially retired from competition which is why I am finally deciding to get everything fixed up. So .... fishing it is. Hopefully the only thing hitting me in the nose from now on will be a fresh salty breeze.
William ... thanks for the words. My surgery is actually at Charlie Finn's office over on Farrington Rd. My NA is someone named Mary Ellis (Alice?) Not sure on the spelling.
