went to the gobbler woods this am, heard several on roost, then the thunderous boom of Mister Big after his fly-down. over a ridge and across a deep creek. same scenario as last weekend, but this time he is mine. last weekend had five different gobblers around me, they had me surrounded. they kept gobbling and cutting each other, off it was hilarious. had to work for my bird last weekend, wanted a larger bird, but shot a young one (they taste better anyway). with gobblin' going on, and my bird is on my lease, i go to him slowly. across ridge and then a creek, taking my time. then about 100 yards out, my friggin' pager goes off and i have to go to a church to work on a 40 ton unit because some peole don't like to get any warmer than 73 degrees. but he will die tomorrow a.m and it will be on film!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sorry to report it guys but today was a bust, only hens and gobblers were cut off by my partner on the other plot of land, work pager kept going off every 30 minutes with service calls, once again cows came in and spooked my natural decoys, hiccupped and almost choked on my diaphram call. hot, gobblers had already hen'd up. piss on it, had to come back home because i have to go into work.
