I stumbled across this website right after buying my last boat in Jan 2008 and have seemed to stay here. One of the first things I noticed was what seemed like HONEST post's about how to catch more fish. Capt Lee ( I just hope I can be the gentileman he seem's to be one day) caught my eye as many other's have. Not bragging mind you, no just "guy's this is how I do it". Then much later I stumbled across "Marty's" site and guy's this is where the info REALLY is. There's just a different class of viewer on here, that are willing to reply. No negativity, just help. I can't help but think this has to with Marty's example on chiming in with good info and keeping thing's "Squared away". I've tried the stuff that he's put up that pertain's to my fishing and for the absolute most part it works WELL. The "Sniper" rig is just one example, I've known about a rig like this but never tried it because I was intimidated to try something new and get away from my beloved downrigger's. Guess what my downrigger's are collecting dust in the corner of my shop. Now, my "want to be" Sniper rigs do not have the big Gold reels or custom rod's yet, they are classed down version's with generic bent butt's, 9/0' and now 12/0's. But I can add that they work well and I have some hefty fillet's in the freezer to prove it.
I'm not trying to stroke anyone's EGO here, just stating the facts as I see em'. I've seen JAW's weigh in on some mechanical problem's on these pages, I've tried to help on some Diesel stuff on these pages too. So what's to be gained by this sharing of knowledge? Maybe just coming to know that this is truely a "Small World" and be willing to help each other out when needed. Makes the "world turn" much easier. That is a common thread I find here on SFC. With out a doubt my favorite place to post, cant say enough good things about box....i will make it a point to get down to cape may if he makes it up for the MA 500 this upcoming year if for nothing else to shake the mans hand and thank him for sharing the wealth of knowledge he shares with us all.

once in a while i would google new ways to rig or new ways to do this and i always seem to see wahoonbox/marty hiatt doing is thang all over the place!!

you can not get the info anywhere else but here! there is more knowledge in this forumn and on this site than in most of the world!!

Very well put Frank. It is nice to see a post that expresses more positives than a lot of the negative ones I have seen over the last several weeks in the different forums. SFC has something to offer almost everyone. It is a collection of many different fourms. I for one visit most of them on the site. I like Box's world for the NC ties, the hunting, HIS VIDEOS, the wealth of fishing info. and even the humour. I like traveling to fish other parts of the world so I tune into the Big game and Circle hook forums. The Mix it up is a hodgepodge of good and bad stuff. I like the NC fishing reports because that is close to home. There is a wealth of info on this site and I like being like a sponge taking in all the good information that hopefully makes me a better fisherman and filtering out the bad. To read and post on this site is one thing. To actually talk to Box and understand that its all about everyone working together so everyone can be successful and have fun is tops. I was intoduced to this site by my children asking questions to a man cleaning wahoo. Amazing how thing come through the eyes of a child. This gentleman happened to be Marty and he in turn introduced me to this site. My kids love it and it is a joy when we sit down together and read and learn together. It makes going fishing that much more enjoyable. Marty you made the day of two beautiful children that will last a lifetime just by giving a few minutes of your time. Only thing to say is THANKS!!!

Funny how you were the first to reply to this post. I'm out working in the shop after making this post and was thinking of a guy I haven't even met,yet. YOU my friend, are the perfect example of this site. Here we sit all safe and warm, you're a world away keeping that way. First of all THANK YOU to you and your brother's in arm's. I'm thinkin here's this "kid" (no disrespect) over there that has gotten many offer's to PLEASE come go fishing with "ME" when you get home. Where else does that happen, really??? No doubt in my mind that when you and your "brother's" get home that there will definitely be trips taken, with those here on this site. Again I ask ,Where Else does that happen?
