Depending on whether the fish is more round bodied or more of a torpedo shape doesn't the divisor change for the slender shaped fish? Can't remember which but thought maybe 700 or 900 was used. Any truth to this?
This applies to marlin. Measure the circumference at the base of the tail and multiply by 10 equals weight of fish.
In the 1998 WMO we weighed a 78-1/2# fish and the base of tail measurement was 7-1/2".
This is another Quick calculation that can help you confirm your other measurements.
