thanks again for video. We've always used a paper clip down the line, but I like the setup off the planer. Have to give it a shot next year.

Few questions, it appears (and I watched the video multiple times) you have a tag end from the planer line that then clips to the rubber band, any issues with the back edge of the planer chaffing that line as it is running? Distance between the steel ring and the tag end? Is there a reason not to run the tag end off the back of the planer?

Realizing this set-up is for GBFT, for smaller class BFT in the area of 50 to 100lbs found around the inshore lumps around OC i.e. hambone, hotdog, etc would you pull the giant planer set-up for the sniper? I could catch em in the upper water column but they were stacked deep holding to huge pods of sand eels. Thinking deep may produce the larger BFT's, so I was excited to see the sniper and put one together but I got it together too late for last years BFT bite.

THE TAG LINE WHICH HAS BEEN COVERED IN OTHER THREADS OF MINE IS 18 INCHES LONG AND IS CONNECTED APPX A FOOT "ABOVE" THE OLD SALTY......IT IS THERE TO PROVIDE A PLACE FOR THE RUBBERBAND TO REST & BREAKAWAY AND OUT OF HARMS WAY AND BEHIND THE OLD SALTY.......( IF YOU PUT IT DIRECTLY OFF THE BACK OF THE PLANER IT WILL TRIP THE PLANER AND BRING THE PLANER UP INTO THE SCREAMING MAINLINE.)

I figured you had a good reason for not attaching it to the planer directly but I didn't realize the bait would trip the planer, especially the 32.... thanks for the response... Any opinions on what set-up for smaller BFT?

Oh and love the video of grilling fresh Piebald loin chops, "I just busted my a$$" and "you thought you were gonna see the fish didn't ya I sure got you guys this time".... been putting in some reading time...
