I've used all kinds of bait for those rascals. I'll tell you a trick for when they stop feeding. Sounds weird, but I swear it works. If the bailers quit feeding. Take a bonito or even a small bailer that already died, put a hook through the nose on a heavy outfit and drag it in circles at about 2 - 4 knots. You just want it near or on the surface. It's gonna spin and look ugly. But, for some reason they'll come up and follow it like waving a steak in front of a dog. Sometimes they'll even nip at the tail. doesn't seem like they want to eat it,but more out of curiousity. Drop back a bait like you would on a billfish with the rod tip high. You'll usually get another one to bite. When you hook that one up,a lot of the time they'll feed and you can get them going for a little while again.

always keep a hooked fish in the water and always keep the chunks flowing if the fish shut off drop a jig and bait combo down about 100' stop it an jig like hell. it always get them going all over again if that fails use live bait

another trick for when they slow down or stop eating is to take a top water popper and ripe it accross the water...they can't stand it and will start feeding again. If you arer fly fishing for them and they quit eating the fly you are using all you need to do is change the color of the fly. Also feed very lightly...just enough to keep them at the boat
    MirrOlure when big fish count!

Put a Drano Crystal in each of your bailing baits......works every time!

I was thinking an Alka-Seltzer tablet. Just blow up the stomachs and let them float up.

Hell, I can't find a place to shoot my .50 cal rifle anymore. I'll take it fishing......that'll kill something.

I typically don't bail dolphin but once in a blue moon we do. Especially if its a summer day and the weather threatens to shorten the trip.
Cycle out the tired ones keeping the freshest hooke out there. I will switch up on them meaning I'll start tossing jigs, switch from squid to hoos, change color on the jigs any they start to slow down.

    1. What's the coolest water that Bluefin will likely tolerate? Do they often hang under Albacore. I'm in the Washington State and we have plenty of Albacore and water in the summer is typically 58-62f. Nobody here catches bigger bluefin (Everyopne is geared for Albies) but many boats have been spooled or broken off for not having heavier gear.
    2. How would you look for bluefin if you were going to a new area? Temp breaks, chloryphl chart, other?

    Thanks
    TT
