Nick, don't worry to much, this is the first Grouper trip this year I've done....hum, lets see 15+ trips for you this year@ 2 gags =...just kidding, it all works out...
We had 1 fish that went in the mid 30"s but this time of year they tend to get fat more than long I think. my best on the Jig this trip was 15 pounds one of the 5 largest fish we had. One of the things I did this trip was to jig when the slowed down and almost every time I got 1 or 2 more fish when I did that. Nice thing about fishing is that I learn something new every day.
Hunt4fish, Allen I would love to take you fishing, when I don't know. My next day off is when? Guess that's a good thing.
Now that I have done the Grouper thing and that itch has been scratched the Sailfish are going to be in trouble. ( I hope) Saw one nearshore the other day (5 miles), hit the planer rod and followed it till it picked off the bait. We had another one next to the boat today but no love. That's how it goes when we Mackerel and sail fish at the same time, but its all fun!
Yes Lou, you guessed it. Next time, stop in and say high.
Ok you guys, rest easy, Grouper are safe for a little while...![]()
