    Frozen Ballyhoo life span?

Since we are on the topic of ballyhoo treatment I got a question for the experts. How long would you say frozen ballyhoo are good for. I got a few packs of baitmasters med-large in the freezer and was planning on saving them for the spring Bluefin run. Will they be any good when thawed?

    Thanks hoo gods!

I definetly agree with the Baitmasters 2 year claim. As long as they are kept frozen and the vacuum seal remains intact

I haven't had a problem with 2 yo Baitmasters, Heck - the poop is still green.

I did have some other brands that washed out pretty quickly after a winter in the freezer.

Keep them frozen hard and as cold as you can keep the freezer and you should be fine.

NICE!!!! They have not been opened or thawed 1 bit. Can't wait to get 'em wet 6 months from now.

    Thanks fellas!

Minus 15 degrees is the key to long term storage. Also, it is important to elevate the stored bait so that air circulates under it. If you lay it flat on the floor of your freezer, the bait may rot an any temperature.

The next bite on a jig.
I have found the key to keeping good bait is to get on old freezer that doesn't auto defrost. The auto feature warms up the interior for a moment then cools back down. That process kills both your bait and your ribeyes.
