Fishing the ICW

Last sunday we put my boat out of Honest Johns boat ramp south of Indianlantic Fl. , well about five miles south, anyway we used live shrimp and I caught 9 sheepshead, 1 nice pompano about 4 lbs, ten mangrove snappers and 1 trout, my cousin sam caught about two more fish than I did no pompano though. We brought his son bill and he was at first just losing bait, then he hooked a 4lb 9oz sheepshead the biggest of the day. A half hour later he caught the worlds smallest mangrove snapper about 4 inches long, we were ribbing him, I said I was only gonna tell about the little snapper, then the little fart caught and 8lb 4 oz redfish! it was 26 inches and fat with a beautiful black circle on its tail. I have not caught one this size ever in the IWC, only once before about four years ago in tampa bay. His smile was bigger than the fish. We had a great day and lost almost as much fish as we pulled in. We caught all of these fish without ever entering the river, we took a left and went into the little canals and found no reason to leave.
