    Fishing 2008 Video

Thought I would try to post a video from this year.

I have not been salt water fishing in 10 years due to being active duty Marine Corps and being gone a lot or stationed where I couldn't salt water fish. I have fished a lot on other people’s boats over the years, but never had my own. So this year we decided it was as good of time as any and in Aug bought a 24 CC. We spent Aug-Dec just getting a feel for the boat and ventured out as the weather permitted. We managed Spanish, Kings, AJ’s, Grouper, Red Snapper, False Albies, more sharks than I ever wanted, and various other bottom fish. The best thing we managed was some good memories with family and friends. All the while having fun and being safe.

I started jigging which is a blast. Looking forward to this coming year to get out and trolling the deep water species which I really love. One thing I have learned it is quite different riding on someone’s boat being the manual labor and being the one that now has to find the fish and make sure everything is happening the way you want as far as the spread, location, gear, and safety.

I would also like to thank many people on this board that have and continue to provide information both on the public form and in PM’s. I hope in the future to be able to provide some tips and techniques of my own.

Hope you enjoy the video and as is tradition in Box’s World CRANK IT UP!

I know I spelled excellent wrong on the title.

In keeping with a Box tradition....

    THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!

    Ponce,
Great post and video! Appreciate you taking the time to put it up here. One thing (aside from some great fishing) that I love in the video is the comment about the little one's smile being all you needed to see. How true it is! Thanks again.

Not really other than try some short trips that they would like. You need to know that a good part of your day will be helping them out. If they are ready to quit then you need to be willing to go.

My 14 y/o daughter used to hunt with me all the time from about 6-9 years old now she doesn't have any interest. That's okay we got to spend some good time together.

Daniel is 7, but he is hard core fisherman, after 13 hours on Bogue Pier one day I told him that I needed to go home. We bring snacks he likes and he will nap on the way out and back. He loves to bottom fish because he can do something so on just about everytrip we spend some time bottom fishing. Our average outing in the boat is 12 hours from the time we leave the house until we get back. We have fished near shore to 30 miles with no problems.

Take your son on some short trips with high success he will love it. Good luck and have fun it is worth every minute.
