    First wahoo in our boat

before that part, I want to thank the BOX for allowing us to buddy boat along beside him Sunday. I have been wanting us to catch a wahoo from our own boat since I bought it 5 years ago. Finding the right day weather wise for a 20' CC to go to wahoo country with the fish biting to match one of my days off has been a challenge. I watched the reports coming in this week of wahoo chewing and I was off work on Sunday matched with a reefcast I thought we could handle. I called the BOX and asked for directions to the killing grounds and I jumped at the chance when he said "you can just follow me". We felt a whole lot safer just knowing there was a friendly boat close by. He gave me the number to punch in and the GPS said 55 miles from the dock. We did the best we could to keep up going out and was really glad when the BOX pulled back on the throttle and said "we start here". We had arrived at the coast late Saturday night. I had to make some rigs with wire and it was midnight when my head hit the pillow. My bait was still froze when it was time for lines in so I threw out a Yozuri plug while I got the ballys thawed. 10 mins later we had a wahoo making a TLD 20 beg. Kay did a great job on the reel and it was wahoonbox. BOX had put us right on the spot. We then lost a tuna at the boat when hook pulled. Then things got quite for a while till the next hoo ate a 48oz trolling sinker that was not tooth proofed. I don't have a planer rod or a reel big enough for one so I had made me a bridle like a planer. Wonder does that hoo have any teeth left? The next hoo strike, broken swivel, more on this in another post. Finally got a tuna to stay hooked for the ride home but pulled two more off at the boat. Add one more missed strike on the plug.
Followed the BOX back to the hill with mission accomplished. Eating fresh wahoo tonight. THANKS AGAIN BOX!

    Thumbs up

    Awesome report. Congratulations.

Another generous move by Marty. He has led a lot of us to our fist wahoo in one way or another.

    Well done to all!

Its great when we all as fisherman work together helping each other instead of being selfish and childish.

Very Nice Greg and Kay. Nothing like the satisfaction of getting a first on your your boat and that was a good one...
