nice looking leaning post- i bought my birdsall with the removable back with rodholders attached but if i were to do it over I would buy the fixed back similar to what you have- looks really nice powder coated too.
Hey Scott- love that sig dude!!!!
I couldnt decide whether or not to add a backrest to my factory post but then I lost rod holders plus i couldnt get one to fix since the factory is so old. I WAS NOT planning on doing this but when I met with the welder he had this demo and basically is came down to price $200 + for just a backrest or a few $$$ more for a whole new setup plus cooler storage. It was a no brainer. Now i am just ready to use it. Curious to see how the powder coat holds up. Never had anything with a powder coat on it. Hope it works as good as it looks.
Jay .. Try not to scratch the coating or it can/will blister. My radar mount is powder coated and where one of the mounting bolts goes through the plate it got nicked up and has blistered. Tef-gel is suppose to help prevent but I have no idea how well it works (or not)
Craig ... Why ??
and Thanks![]()
I have done a fair amount of machined Boat parts that are powder coated for T-tops and the best Answer i would have is to use High density plastic washers between any parts that are added after the fact make sure they are thick and check them yearly
Yeah that was my concern, the blistering. Hopefully i will not have to deal with this bc I will not be mounting anything to it. I am just worried about the scratches and etc. that it will encounter for fishing. Oh well I guess I will just have to wait and see. Anymore preventitive measures you guys suggest. Jay
