final BFT report 01 30 07 MHC

Guys, Cap Don, Bobbie U and I went bft Tuesday. 14-19kts WSW winds 3-4'seas. Cold water temp's, 54 at trawler so we trolled to the 240 and west rock and found 61 degree's with lots of bait, birds, porpoise and albie's (caught 2) and NO bft! As usual.
Trolled back to the big 10 when we got our 1st BFT hook up out of 13 trips!! Took half the 130 reel with 35#'s of drag. We had a bit of a chinese fire drill trying to get the lines out of the way and keeping the fish behind the boat. At this time the fish decides to do a 90 degree turn and head for the bow. Apparently his change in direction caused him to pull the hook and it was over for us! Oh well, better to have hooked up and lost then never hooked up at all!
Wait til next year!
The weather for the next week looks dreary. The 1st time we get a forecast of 10-15kts or less from a southern quadrant for a few days the Tail Walker is going to the gulf stream. I'll keep ya posted.

Thank for the report captain Fred. Glad you finally got your bite. Following your progress this year, I have been impressed at your determination and positive outlook. There will hopefully be many GBFT in your future!
