Fight N Lady report Oct. 16th: zero to hero in 90 mins.

Quick report before I hit the sack, pics and video to come after tommorrow. Started out as "one of those days," macks eating the ass end out of my starter spread with only one snake to show for it. Then came the mahi tearing up the spread barely big enough to fit my dinks in their mouth. Threw out the winnies and hooked I few while I got ready for the bailers. Found a few bailers under the big mats but even they wouldn't eat, threw out 4 pounds of red meat and only had two bailers to show for it. The word form Shane was "screw this we want wahoo anyway." Picked our way through the scattered grass and the sail came calling on the left long. He knocked it down and pulled drag for a second then nothing, shit, not wanting to try him again on the ilander I popped out the left flat dink and sent it back in freespool. About six seconds into the drop and there he is, feed him for a few push up the drag "got em on!" "SHIT!" he just pulled off. Another drop back and nothing. About this time I was ready to hang myself from the right short and end the misery. Then about 1 pm the right long blue and crystal witch snaps down and leaves in a hurry, after about a nice battle I am taking wraps on the wire and he is a stud! Sink the steel and a 58 pounder is in the box, things are looking up. Start the circle and the bridge rod gets a hit, nothing, Shane drops it back for a few, stops it, still nothing, drops again, stops, nothing, about the time I go for a replacement bait in the cooler I hear the Shimano clicker doing its thing. Purdy work there skipper. It appears to be another nice one but pulls off half way throught the fight. Start the circle again and the planner rod gets nailed but no one home. Work the area for the next hour with no luck. At around 2:30 I hear the tell tell sign that it time to head for the hill when the right teaser gets cranked in. Before it is hanging from the rigger the bridge rod screams again and this time there is no doubt, he's on! Another nice fight and there's another nice un' getting wired in. The guy that booked the trip asks, " can I stick him?" My first reaction is hell no but then I thought, I know this guy has gaffed plenty of fish, we have been talking about his fishing adventures all day. Second, the main reason he booked the trip was so his nephew from Indiana could catch a "big fish." Well, with nephew in the chair I set aside my pride and let the man sink the steal while I had both hands full of wire. Perfect shot and another 45+ pounder in the box. Was it a perfect day? no, anyone that fishes knows about days like today but in the end Shane found the hoos and we got the guys a couple of "big fish" and they were stooked. They are here, hopefully as we get past this full moon they will be more apt to bite on our schedule. I am ready to get them tommorrow!

First time I heard the following statement was from Pastor Lupton, the reminder and follow came out of JMS's mouth Wed. During a full moon, the bite will be good at the rise, then straight overhead, the set and straight underneath. I would bet good money that is where the afternoon bite came from.
