Father & Son first big fish

I had some customers yesterday that have never been offshore fishing and have never caught anything larger that a largemouth bass. When they booked me all they wanted to do is to catch some big fish. Sounded like another jack trip to me! First live bait that went over, I free spooled it for about 10 seconds and it was on! The father took the first fish and all he could say was "Oh My God". He reeled so hard that he broke the handle on my TLD25 the first 2 minutes of the fight. Next it was his sons turn. Same results, tossed the live bait over and "BOOM". The father had to help, but the son did pretty good for his first time on Jacks. This went on with every bait that went in the water for about the first hour. Then they wanted to rest a while. Got to do it again tommorrow, Hopefully with the same results! Got to love those Jacks!

    Capt Joe,
Great job putting the little guy on those donkeys. We take them for granted sometimes but thank the lord for em when beginners are on board. They are as game as it gets on the other end. Shame about the square cranking mishap, at least that's only a handle. Thanks for sharing the pics and get em tommorrow.

Is that a Parker boat Captain Joe?

I was the other guy out there with you Saturday. I could see that kid's smile from my boat! Got to love seeing kids having fun on the water.

Yes my Parker is a 1989 model. I added a top and second steering station on top 2 years ago. After 19 years of inshore and near shore charter work it is still going strong! I had to replace the transom a year or so ago because after 7 different motors, some water got into the holes that some of the service tecs forgot to seal up properly. The old modified v does an excellent job is shallow waters for reds and trout and does alright offshore. Although a deeper v would help the ride and my back!

No wonder you caught so many fish.

I thought that anchor hatch and those gunwales looked awful familiar. I love the two rod holders you added in the bow. Any boat that outlast seven motors deserves a little respect IMHO.

There have been a few bluefins that have died with the help of those rod holders
