I got four of them.. they have all seen bonita, yft, bft, albies and other stuff like bluefish and stripers..
they are about 6 inches long.. and they got an awesome rattle in them..
these babys can pop and cause some serious turbulance on the water!!
Hmmmm that is a real bummer to hear. Wonder why the NC guys are getting top dollar for their giant tuna they catch. Are you guys bleeding them properly? I ate Bluefin we caught last year in October and it was great. Definitely a bummer to hear that though.![]()
Like i said, pretty sure we cooked ours during the fight....but a 50 with 60lb floro leader will do that to a fish that size, i was shocked when i cooked it....then again this one was caught on light tackle and fought for about an hour and a half and tasted fine.
I am not sure why they taste like crap, maybe that is what the Japanese like about them.We never swam ours, but we did bleed and gut them. We're not surgeons like the NC guys are, but we treated them well. I think it has a lot to do with what they are eating around here. They are usually full of little silversides and bunker. Not like the ones in the summer that are full of squid and sand eels. Most of the ones we catch now are tagged and put back just for that reason. If we have a guy on the boat that wants to eat it we will kill it. He is usually warned though that they stink bad.
