    An expensive sunday session

We had a bit of a late start from the ramp but we had a game plan in mind........ we never quite got to put the game plan into action.

Arriving at the first reef right on slack tide we were met with packs of popper hungry kingfish. one cast after another poppers were escorted to the boat by the rat pack. Every 2nd or 3rd cast was a hookup resulting in in some great skull dragging fun.

As soon as the tide started to run the fish went down so out came the jigs...... and there they went
    SAM on the saltiga/jm250 combo

    stink bro

we got bronzied early on so we changed to a cheaper assist hook that comes with jigs.... bad move $90 of jigs lost in the space of about 15 mins. not one...not 2 but 3 split solid rings resulting in 3 lost jigs cheers zest jigs your name was mud at 2pm today!

anyway we continued pulling in rats and there was the man in the brown suit following them up. a 18/0 circle hook and 400lb leader was sent out on the 50w and it took all of about 2 mins for the first bite to come along... Crispy was in the hotseat

and we soon had about 100kg of angry bronzie next to the boat.

Sam tagged it and she went ape****, ripping the leader through my hands and my new gloves

luckily she bit through at the hook so we had a go for the next one.... this one took 4 mins. about 30 seconds of freespool and put the reel to strike and nothing....bugger. it was back to the kingis and they were waiting.at about kingfish #18 we found one legal who met the inside of my kill bag.
    Then it started.....

I dont know if we were hookin bronzies on the jig or horse kings but we all got smoked big time only to come back with shredded trace or nothing at all so did some others fishing along side us in a quintrex

We watched the boys in the quiny get dealt to by another large fish of some which saw them hooning around the reef following the beast.

after 3 1/2 hours, a couple of bronzies, 20 kings and a few coldies we called it a day.
not bad for a half arsed attempt at a sunday fish considering we never made it to the good reef!

here is a clip of a Bronzie taking out a kingfish. If you dont like bad language dont watch the clip

You keep making us jealous brother Mozza. Warm weather, popper & jig pullage and fresh yellowtail sashimi! Good stuff!

Shoe: It just seems to be this one reef that is covered in Bronze Whaler's. Our other local spots don't seem to have the same numbers. There are some big girls here too....see my "air jaws"

This weekends report should be a good one Jim. We have the captains wife and her friends out for the Nautigirls tournament and I am on the deck.....the biggest Woman's fishing tournament in NZ so it should be worthwhile
I might even take photos of the fishing
