Expensive Pliers.....
I have thought about stepping up and getting some decent pliers. I seem to always settle for a cheap pair that seizes up after a few trips. Does anyone have any suggestions or preferences with nicer pliers? Are they even worth it?

I have always liked the spring loaded manley's and just soak em in WD40 every so often.

I use a pair of pliers older than me, almost black with rust, but not siezed up. Move as easy as the day they were new. Some pliers get rusty and seize up, others get rusty but don't seize up. I have another pair from Wal Mart, 2 years old now, same deal as the other ones.

I gave up on the expensive ones. It takes about 4 to 5 trips for a rusty one to get totally clean and "unrusted" and just stay black... fuel does the cleaning for me .. then up some wd40 on it.. and is better then new

I have some Billfishers in one boat and an inexpensive pair of Shimano in the other. At 30 to 40 bucks a pair, I can buy a bunch for what 1 pair of the expensive ones cost...

Take a ziploc spray corrosion x in it spray the pliers when new Store the pliers in the ziplock wipe the handles before each trip end of problems I have plain steel cutters that stay on the boat some last 3yrs some fall overboard on the first trip All never seize up doing this

I also have a pair of Abels that I have had forever and dont have a spec of rust on them but they are not spring loaded.

My pliers work for a livin. A new pair of manleys each year for me... I save the old ones and have them scattered around for a quick snip if I need one...
I found some cheapies on ebay a couple years back that I thought would make ok back up crap. Most of the time I'm right but the pairs I got that trip have been absolute gems... Wish I could find more...
