Garmin all the way. 4212 to be exact, we put this system in the boat this year & couldn't be happier.

Crab mustard is good
For me, I prefer Furuno products, I find them easy to use but more importantly, I have a good service location, Marine electronics of the Outerbanks.
They have a ton of inventory and if I have a problem, which I have not had, they are there quickly with a loaner or whatever it takes to get me going.
I think the plotter is one of the easiest on the market myself, easy to follow but you can get use to anything.
If you consider Furuno, I have some items that I am putting up for sale that may be of use to you. I have the black box for the sounder and the cables needed. I went with a 585 sounder a couple of years ago and don't use it now.
Also, a gps antenna with mount, a six kw open array antenna with a new 30 foot cable and all the related power cables.
I purchased another unit for the Navnet display and these items came with it which I don't need.
Good luck with whatever you choose !

Either Furuno or Garmin, depending on what you are looking at spending. To me, the perfect set up would be Garmin Charplotter and Furuno bottom machine. Sitex also makes an awesome bottom machine. Don't get me wrong, Garmin's bottom machine's are great, but I believe the Furuno shows a little more detail in deep water. Also, what are your main use's, trolling, slow trolling, bottom fishing, what? One other thing, don't cut corners with you're transducer. You can buy the best head unit on the planet and cut corners with the 'ducer, and be no better off than with a humminbird.

Sit down Shut up And fish
I'm with Capy Lyndon, Garmin for chartplotter radar, Furono for sonar

For ease of use its hard to beat a garmin. However I have 2 navnet 3d's on my boat and love them. Radar and fishfinder are much better on the Furuno. Garmin chartplotter/radar and furuno fishfinder would work well.

The center console I fish on has the Furuno package with twin Navnets. Like others have said, I like the Furuno radar and bottom machine, but not as big a fan of the plotter.
The new Garmin plotters are much easier to use in comparison to the Furuno...for me at least. The Furuno also seems to have more of a delay when you zoom and scroll. Other than that they are both excellent.
Again, don't skimp on the transducer.

Thanks for the input. I am leaning towards the Garmin for chartplotter and the Furuno for radar and sounder. I want to redundant systems and I can add components to each to make that happen.

If Ignorance is bliss, Why aren't more people happy?
I have a Furuno Chartplotter, Radar, Sounder and a backup Raymarine DGPS.
It took a but to pickup the furuno chartplotter at first, because I moved from Garmin - but I can do it with my eyes closed (or in the dark) now. I selected the Furuno because the TD conversion was much better on Furuno at the time.
If I were starting over today, I would get 2 Furuno Black Boxes, 2 Multi Function Displays, and be able to network all of it together - and be redundant... Just my $.02
Agreed on not skimping on the transducer.

I have had both Furuno and Garmin on my boat. I currently have the Garmin 4212 and like it. Ease of backup of your numbers and use is great. I agree that Furuno seems to have the better depth sounder though. You'll like the satellite weather function and I encourage you to get it. It has saved my butt from some nasty storms on more than one occasion, plus it has put some fish in the boat for me since you can find the temp breaks with it.
