Electric Bill massacre w/ Baywolf
baywolf (rick), phil, gary, & myself went sat. with one goal in mind, a MASSACRE! we pre-rigged 30 baits, loaded 3 80's, 5 50's
& headed out at 4:30. our plan, when we had fish on, was to put the heat on, get the fish to the boat as quick as possible, & sling them in the boat. only one fish met the gaff, slinging 10-25lb fish green can get really interesting, especially in a small boat with 3-4 on the deck at the same time. by 12 we had our 40 fish limit, plus a bonus hoo. we lost several by putting the heat on them, & by slinging a couple off the hook. it was nice heading in early & getting blood all over every part of the boat!
monday - same plan in place, but we swapped gary for billy. it was not as good a day, but we managed 29 gaffers & headed in at 3. the big excitement was my epirb went off (due to low batt, so Tammy at west marine told me today) & the coast guard could not reach us. sea tow & tow boat relayed between myself & the coast guard. we ended up clearing up the matter, & got back to fishing. when we got back to land i found they called the people on my list, & sent the police to my house. the police woke my 14yr old son looking for me & told him what was going on. poor josh freaked out because he thought we were in trouble, but thanks to friends that got an answer & got matters cleared. thanks Shane for calling tow boat & offering to help if need be. i hate it happened, but it is nice to know the system works. i always tell people that i have all the safety equipment aboard that is needed, plus everyone looks out for one another out there. hopefully this wind will clear & we can get back at it soon!

Those are two good days fishing right there. It is good to know that the system works the way its supposed too, even though it was a false alarm.

If Ignorance is bliss, Why aren't more people happy?
A false alarm is much better that an MAYDAY - anyday - and a few fish to boot helps too!!!

Chip covered it pretty well, outside of the ass whopin we took on the way out, and we had so much weight in the front of the boat we didn't go up and over the waves.. just plowed through them and took on water. Sat 40 true gaffers in 3 hrs... 13 to 25lbers. Put the heat to em, drag em to the boat, take a wrap and sling em in and go to the next. This wasn't a fun trip it was all out meat hogging. Don't cry or ***** about loosing a fish just put em in the boat. Four years ago was fishing the Big Rick with Shane and the Green hornets were eating the hell out of our big baits. We got ambushed by 4 and took all the rest that I had left out of a doz, makrels, mullets and horses. I ran to the salon to more and heard them all hooting and hollering. came back out to see the biggest Blue I'd ever seen, nothing left to pitch. I'd slung more 25-35 lb'ers in the boat that week and I knew what the terminal tackle would handle. I've seen and experienced more gaffers lost at the side of the boat than if you would just sling them in, especially if they are green. Hell of a weekend Chip, thanks man.

Nice job on the slinging job, when the bite is hot like that we sure should all fish with thicker leaders and not put holes in them!
How old is your EPIRB ?
