EGGHEAD CLUELESS #2...ARE YOU AN EGGSPERT?

What are they? Painters took down the flower hanger the nest was in yesterday and something caught my eye just then and I saw the nest. The eggs are cold and the mother must have abandoned them. I'll try to hatch them out but am clueless. I have them under a 100 watt bulb right now.

The mom bird probably had not started to set the eggs yet is why they were cold. Once she starts to set then the eggs are warmed, and it is ok for her to leave the nest for a short period of time. Unless you know that something happened to the mother bird, she is just laying the eggs. Once she is satisified with the number of eggs in the nest then she will start to set. It is best never to disturb the nest, just wait and watch, she will start sitting soon.

It is very cool to watch the mom birds feeding the babys. And to see them learn to fly.

I really doubt if the light will do any good, probly just wasting your time. But I will check back to see if you do have good luck with them. You will need to be sure to turn the eggs several times a day for the chicks to develop. Always keep them with the pointed end down. I would suggest an incubator with automatic turner and quail egg inserts. I have no idea of the temp needed or the humidity required.

Good luck with them and post pics if they hatch. Maybe you could candle the little eggs in a few days and see if it is developing.
