Ok guys! Here the african is gonna shock you again! I BET that if our cook from Sénégal made those Jack Crevalle meatballs you wouldn't make the difference with the meatball sandwich from Subway....
Yes, here we are very fortunate to have good eating fish but remeber most of the fish in this country is eaten in fish sticks... You could throw Jacks in those it wouldn't make a difference!

Unfortunately the crevalle falls in the terrible category along with most trevallies. However, pompanos rock, as do yellowtails, lookdowns and most runners. Amberjacks are in the middle between good & bad.

Welkom dutchjigger, Leuk om een Hollander op dit webportaal te ontmoeten.
Ik ben zelf een "drent" geboren en getogen, en ben de laatste paar jaar aardig aktief met zeevissen hier in North Carolina.

PM me when you get in the neighborhood. doei Jan.

I agree, all jacks are not equal.

I have had blue star trevally and it was white meat and very good, on the other hand, you could not force feed me crevalle.

    The worm thing is overblown...

Lots of fish have worms in the meat. Yes you can see them. Yes they taste just like the fish. Speckled trout have worms, redfish as well.

Be sure to cut off their tail and bleed them upon catch. If you cook them well enough you should not have to worry about the worms. The worms usually accumulate near the tail.
