Did anyone else witness the huge lionfish kill early Jan during all the freezing when the cold water pushed almost to the break.... saw hundreds floating on top.... guess the cold water had put the smack down on um. If i had seen this vid sooner I could have dipped up enough to feed MHC.

I wonder if there is a specific temp the fish has to get to to neutralize the venom?

THATS WHAT THE ICE, SALT, SALTWATER BRINE IN THE BLUE COOLER WAS USED FOR...ONCE HE PLACES THEM IN THAT COOLER FOR ABOUT AN HOUR THEY ALMOST FREEZE .....NEUTRALIZING THE VENOM

Yeah I gotcha on the brine solution to get them real cold I just wondered if anyone knew what the magic temp was to neutralize it.

That seems crazy that getting the venom really cold neutralizes it. I wonder if that applies to other venomous creatures like jellyfish and such, not that you would ever need to handle a jellyfish just thinkin' out loud...

Before you know it the poor Lionfish will be "overfished" along with the very rare Groupers and American Reds...

I COMMERCIAL FISHED WITH BRIAN ABOUT A WEEK AGO...WE RELEASED BACK TO THE DEEP AT LEAST 200 PLUS LBS OF GROUPERS...200LBS OF SILVER SNAPPERS...ONLY THE LORD KNOWS HOW MANY 3-4 LB BLACK BASS......AND SEVERAL DOUBLE HEADER RELEASES OF SOME NICE 'UN AMERICAN REDS.....
