THE HOLLOW NEEDLE....I GUESS I WAS JUST LUCKY CAUSE I FOUND 3 SIZES OF THEM IN S/S 20 YEARS AGO...AND HAVE NOT SEEN THEM SINCE AT ANY STORE
THERE IS HOPE .....HERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE FOR A HOLLOW NEEDLE....BUT IT ONLY WORKS INSERTING IT FROM ONE DIRECTION SAY THROUGH A SQUID...WHERE AS A HOLLOW NEEDLE WORKS AND RETRIEVES FROM EITHER DIRECTION
THIS RODTIP IS SEALED ON THE SMALL TAPERED END AS PICTURED BELOW:
THIS IS THE OPEN END:
I USE THIS RODTIP "NEEDLE" WHEN I AM RIGGING A LARGER NATURAL OR PLASTIC SQUID....IT IS ABOUT 14 INCHES LONG
IT IS THE TIP OF AN OLD SPINNING ROD THAT IS TAPERED AND SEALED ON ONE END
No way that is the same rod tip that was around back when I took your rigging school. Gosh it sure looks like it. I use my wind on needles for some stuff and I have cut the end off one so I have a double sided open end needle. Very importnant to have good tools it turns a six hour disaster into a two hour rigging session.

Good thread and video here Marty. I have used a marinating needle and a tri bead instead of the wax floss on the underside slot, I like your way better.

Hollow tubes
Hobby shops have them as well as many hardware stores. Craft hardware here at Wrightsville Beach has it.
When you are putting the floss through the tube, get it started and suck on the other end of the tube and the floss will slid right through...old fly tier trick...
Great tip Box along with a great video... Nothing like Tuna crack...
