    Dredge Baits?

I have always pulled a natural dredge either bally or mullet, however I have seen alot of the new stuff out there such as the strip holograms and the sassy shad type imitations. Just wondering what peoples opinions are on the topic. as to what the most effective is whether its strips, imitation bodies, or natural.

Also what are people pulling as a surface teaser for bills? I have always run green moldcraft squid with illand express trailer with hoo. However just curious as to what else guys are pulling?

2005 Pirates Cove Billfish Tournament we raised about 23 White & Blue Marlin on Strip dredges in 3 days-- including a 350 or so lb Blue that would not come off the teaser even when the mate was holding the dredge bar in his hand at the transom. On a couple other occations, Whites heads were in the strips so far they could not see the pitch bait beside them--- yea, they work all right.

2006 Pirates Cove Billfish Tournament--- the billfish would not give a strip dredge the .time of day and only responded to natural mullets.

I pulled the hollographic plastic ballyhoo a fair amount last year and only raised a couple of fish on these. However, I am very impressed with the amount of flash they produce--- more than the strips. I'm not that crazy about the lack of action from the fishes, as the strips really move around and look like a bait ball.

All said, I don't think you will ever go wrong with an all natural split tail mullet dredge, but the strips are alot less hassle and may be as effective or more so on a given day. The jury is still out with me on the plastic fishes.

You'll never go wrong pulling a moldcraft squid chain.

Bert, is RT still running a natural on one side and the plastic bunkers on the other?

This may sound like a plug but it is only the truth

I pulled the Holografic plastic baits that we distribute thru our dealer network , during last years Nantucket Billfish and took Fith place and held first for 3 day's First and second was Won by 2 boats doing the same

The 2006 IGFA Rolex World Chapionships were won pulling our dredges and Holografic Baits

The 2 place Wahoo in M/A was raised on the Holografic baits

I like to mix Stripteasers and Holografic fish The strips give you some length and the baits give you some substance

I pull 3 in tandem around 15 feet long when deployed ,one of each corner

Yes i had day's with out a billfish but IMHO i wil always deploy them when slow trolling

Excellent idea Poon. We were thinking the same thing last fall but haven't tried it yet. The fishes for bulk and extra flash up front--- the strips for movement, lengh, and the perception of a thick school of bait in the rear.
