First trip out this year with capt Scott on big boat and what a day indeed
Weather was awesome coulda made the ledge in a jonboat if ya could a found a way to carry the fuel
Stopped at R8 to get the newbies used to the tackle got a couple cudas for training and a nice 30# cobia for the box icebreaker(2 monsters swam up with him but i wasnt totally prepared )
Headed out to about 300ft found a broken weedline and picked up a couple decent dolphin and a 35#wahoo and the weed lineclearing class was in after that
The ATL boys on the boat were getting restless so we trolled back in a little and put the electrics to work on the bottom
Got a quick limit of big silvers , a few monster triggers, 1 grouper, and thats when the real fun started
Slinger dolphin surrounded the boat so we went to work with the spinning gear
Loaded the boat with a good mess of little guys and teenagers
Had a group of 4 big bulls come in and we managed 3 of the all over 25# talk about a firedrill
I hooked a 300#bullshark that came in for a peanut sammy and somehow grabbed my jig instead
We got him to the boat 15 min later as the mono leader parted at the back of the boat luckely
(shimano butterfly jigging system is bad arse saragusa on a 5-8xxxheavy spinrod)
The dolphin stayed with us all afternoon and we never went back on the troll as the action was non stop
I think we kept about 40 and left um biting
Dont have many pics as i was a little overwhelmed in the pit of chaos most of the day
The opening to that killbox is 2ft sq and the bx is 6ft long and 3ft deep
