Downrigger Question

I was curious what ya'll use on your downriggers. Wire, mono, or braid? I am getting some mixed opinions around here and want to know what is best. Also I was wondering if anyone had a regular mounting plate for a Penn Fathomaster 600, I was able to find one on the internet but still need one. If anyone has one laying around I could really use it.

Thanks in advance,

Ryan

I only use Braid now and will never go back. Runs deeper than mono and quiter than wire and does not kink. Use 250 to 400 pound...never had mine break, even when I stuck the planer into a ledge...

Braid definitely has my vote, all the same reasons, no kink and quiet.

250 hollow core braid. Lies nice and flat on the downrigger spools. I check the last few yards of braid off the spool and re tie my swivel connection after every trip out. Live baiting with just a weighted ball is not that bad to foul or chafe/nick up. But when you pull a dredge. I want to make $ure nothing come$ unbuttoned .
