Does Evolution make people soft-hearted? no links or pics attached.

Ol' Hoo's site asked me to post a question, or say hello to somebody. OK, here is my question...

Does Evolution make people soft-hearted? I always choose my words carefully, folks, and my question asks what I would like answers to.

I broadly define "Evolution" as experience, and education. Those two things are closely related, but not the exackly the same. I define "soft-hearted" as not given to a killing instinct.

Hey, its my thread, and my world, so those are my definitions. Hoo told me a long time ago to be myself, so I will.

Do people typically get more soft-hearted as they get older? All of us experience more as we grow older. Its a simple fact. Every day it happens, whether you like it or not. Are older, more experienced people more likely to snap a picture of a fish, and return it to the water alive? Are younger people more likely to fill a cooler with fish, to be photographed back at the dock, with the fish dead as Kellsey's balls?

Years ago I hunted ducks one winter in Arkansas. The house we stayed in was owned by an old guy named Monroe. Every morning Monroe had breakfast ready for us before we left for the blind, and when we returned Monroe was starting supper. Monroe was not afraid of work, and he had no problem getting up in the morning, or working until late in the evening. One afternoon, late in the trip, I asked Monroe a question. "Why don't you come with us in the morning, Monroe". He looked at me, smiled, and said "because I ain't mad at the ducks no more".

Does everything good have to change?

    I think yes...

I grew up as a mass murderer of fish and matured as a tarpon fishing release artistI've been thinking about this very thing tonight as I decide which way to turn in this game called life...

There is no nobler a pursuit than our passion of fish wrangling...We rejoice in the blood and the meat, but most importantly in the fellowship. Ours is an uncommon bond. Through mahi blood and wahoo worms we unite

I think yes. Either soft-hearted or wiser and less wasteful. Either way evolution seems to work for the better!

Thumbs up ahhh NO BIG DEAL !!!

hmmmm older and wiser ..or not a big deal.....?

seems as i progress in years.....

what was important is not as important now...and what wasn't important is now more of a priority......

guess with age the responsibility does increase....soooo even more reason to have an escape.....whether it be not in this order..... fishing/hunting/cars/or chasing younger than i ladies.....

yup still enjoy but NOT IN EXCESS like the old days....

    Mellowed out with age...

I don't think I'm necessarily softer-hearted now, but perhaps a little more tolerant and understanding than when I was younger.

hmmmm..... I personally hunt and fish to kill and eat, sounds barbaric but that's just the nuts and bolts of it. Now that being said I can relate to what you are saying in the sense that my dad is a lot more of a softee when it comes to things like dogs. Before they were tools to use in the field, now they are more a part of the family.
Does this mean I'm going to get softer?

Age and experience refine the way a man looks at the world and how he reacts to it. Call it perspective. Call it mellowing. But when you know there are fewer years ahead of you than behind you in your life you don't feel the need to prove yourself in the foolish pursuits of your youth. Well at least some of us don't. A wise man learns to respect his environment and its inhabitants and takes satisfaction in knowing the simple truths that were captured in the biblical verse in Ecclesiastes over two-thousand years ago-- to everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven. A time to heave that whopper in the box for an appointment with some hot grease and a time to slip him back in the water and watch him swim away A moment in time that connects you to the natural world in a way the shore bound and the golfers of the world will never know.
