Great Post! It is amazing how a man's perspective changes with age. What was important then is not so important now.

I practice safe fishing
Don't think it's evolution, I think it is life experiences and where we derive our joys and passions. Years ago I used to love to hunt and bag pheasants in South Dakota, loved to shoot their asses and get as many as possible. Nowadays I like to get a couple, sit on the tailgate dress them while smoking a good cigar and sipping Jack and Ginger with my buds while watching the sun go down. Guess I'm not mad at the pheasants anymore either, or I've just grown to appreciate the beauty in the world we live in and are temporary custodians of. Maybe it is the evolution of self or spirit so I guess it is a type of evolution. Anyway, let's go offshore and kill some fish.....I'm still mad at them. Wahoo Too

I've heard that the evolution of a fisherman goes in 3 stages.
You start off wanting to catch as many fish as possible then after you've had your fill, you want to catch the biggest fish. Finally, the experienced fisherman seeks the most difficult fish to catch. Seems pretty true- I like looking for a new challenge, but it's still fun to fill a box!

Bite me
Thanks to everyone that replied to this post. I was sincere in my question, and I did not know what kind of reaction it might bring. I appreciate everyone taking the time to post his or her thoughts.
I am getting softer, for whats its worth. I MAY never shoot another deer. Just can't look them in the eye while I squeeze the trigger anymore. I still love to fill the box with fish, though. How's that for a screwed up perspective?
